Tomorrow
Sunday, September 3, 2000, will be the second and the last
stage of elections 2000, for Beirut, South and Bekaa
Provinces, in order to complete the 128 sets of the
Parliament.
The
voters number: 1,437,377 - Candidates are 259 for the
remaining 65 seats. Some candidates are nominated
individually, and some through lists.
MP
Bahiya Hariri calls for issuing the law, which allows for
the 18 years old to vote.
Sunni
Hussein Zainab calls for fortifying the unity of the society
through democratic climates, and to intensify voting to
prove this democracy, and to support eh state of
establishments and law.
An
electoral festival was made supporting Greek Catholics MP
Nadim Salem, attended by MP Nassib Lahhoud and the Southern
Opposition, in Lebaa, Jezzine Coast, in the presence of
Communist Saadallah Mazraani, Workers' Chief Elias Abou Rizk,
and Former MP Habib Sadek. The latter calls to establish a
wide rescuing Opposing front and to open a dialogue so as to
found a neo-independence movement. Elias Abou Rizk answers
on President Berri by accusing him of making advantage of
the Authority and violating the democratic fundamentals.
Sunni
Akram Farhat calls for voting to the Southern conscience to
regain Shebaa Farms.
An
Armenian Appeal in As-safir today, for voting to the
Armenian candidates in Beirut, who represent the 85% of the
Armenian sect's sons. The Armenian candidates of Beirut are:
Mehran
Safarian (Second District), Arthur Nazharian, Agop
Bakradouni, Estephan Obejian (Third District), Abraham
Dedeyan (First District).
President
Salim Hoss says, "I do not search a political future,
and won't allow any parasiting on my ruling record. They had
spoilt the political atmosphere, and Beirut will not vote
for the corrupters and who invested for the war." He
pronounced his long speech during an electoral party made on
his honor in Long Beach.
The
Chief of Islamic Charitable Makassed Organziation MP Tammam
Salam visited Deputy Chief of Superior Islamic Chiite
Council Jaafari Moufti Cheikh Abdul Amir Kabalan. MP Salam
called for establishing a government of accord for rising
through the events, in particular the economical ones.
President
Rafic Hariri calls for a political movement to protect the
democratic regime. He continues, "The present policies
do not achieve the change, and do not make the country rise.
No way to accomplish the Agreement within a State lead by
closed rooms." He pronounced his speech in an electoral
central festival yesterday night in Caracas area, in the
presence of the Dignity members: MP's: Bechara Merhej, Adnan
Arakji, Michel Pharaon, Yeghia Jerjian, Former MP Mohammad
Kabbani, Ghattas Khoury, Atef Majdalani, Bassel Flaihan,
Ghinwa Jalloul, Gahzi Aridi, Jean Oghasapian, Judge Walid
Eido, Basem Yamout, Agop Kassarjian, Nabil DeFrege, Serje
Sarkissian, and Nasser Kandil.
Chiite
Baalbeck-Hermel Dr. Mohammad Hajj Sulaiman had lived
deprivation and poverty, but he triumphed over them by firm
will.
Zhaleh
District had one of its lists named by Popular Mass, headed
by MP Elie Skaff, members of MP Nicola Fattouch, Mohammad
Ali Maiss, MP Mohsin Dalloul, MP Khalil Hrawi, Mkhayel Debs,
MP Georges Kassarji, its most huge festival in its electoral
history, where about ten thousand people of the list
supporters attended in solidarity with its members. This
list has its slogan: 'A unique decision, way and goal.
People's decision is in their hands, and their strength is
in their solidarity'.
Duraid
Yaghi of Baalbeck still continues, after forty years of
struggle. He is for the Socialist seat.
Baalbeck-Hermel
Ali Mohammad Husseini continued his electoral trips and set
popular conventions in Nabi Cheit, Bednayel, Kssarnebba,
Hadath Baalbeck and Timneen Faouka.
Farouk
Dahrouj might be the only Communist MP for West
Bekaa-Rachaya District.
Sayyed
Hassan Nassrallah penetrates the wall of silence and answers
on Cheikh Tfeily without naming him: "To make the
Resistance as betrayers, and to work on penetrating
Hezbollah's class won't lift up the deprivation on
Baalbeck-Hermel!" Sayyed Nassrallah also says,
"The alliance with Amal is political and not
electoral." He calls for not scratching-out.
Cheikh
Soubhi Tfeily says, "Hezbollah's withdrawal from the
South is against it and against the Resistance."
