You love your Country, Lebanon, and adore Democracy? Then,
use your legal right and vote, by hurrying and submitting to
obtain your electoral card.
Directorate General of Lebanese Interior Ministry sets
deadline dates for submitting the electoral permissions
and for withdrawing the nominations:
A-The
period for submitting the permissions ends at the hour
24 of Friday on 11/8/2000 for both Mount
Lebanon and North Districts.
B-The
period for withdrawing the nominations ends at the
hour 24 of Wednesday on 16/8/2000 for the above
mentioned Districts.
The
candidates' stock market reached: 103 in the Mountain, and
121 in the North. Today ends the deadline date for
submitting nomination applications to the legislative
elections in Mount Lebanon Province's four Districts, and in
North Lebanon Province's two Districts.
President
Rafic Hariri says, "The only constant is the people's
will." He pronounced this, during an electoral festival
set by his Beirut Dignity List, in Caracas, Ras Beirut
district, in the presence of all members of the three Beirut
Districts, among crowds of citizens, and members of
Municipal Council.
Engineer
Fouad Makhzoumi announces list of "Beirut's Sons",
in the First District, saying "there should be a
comprehensive plan to reform the economy, bring investments,
committing to the change and renewal, and constructing a
just state. His list is complete facing Beirut Dignity's.
This list includes, in addition to Eng. Fouad Makhzoumi,
Sunni Attorney Muhieddine Doughan, Orthodox Former Minister
and MP Michel Sassine, Maronite Former Chief of Attorneys
Syndicate Antoine Calimos, Catholic Jean Pierre Haddad, and
Evangelical MP Abraham Dadayan of Tachnak Party.
Nazar
Najarian declares his withdrawal as a step to commit to his
Tachnak Party's decision.
Minorities
Jamal Ghibril continues her activities and visits among the
families, saying that she assails her electoral battle
alone, independent of any list.
Abdul
Rahman Cheikha, member of Superior Islamic Legal Council met
delegates of Ras Beirut and Ain Mreisseh families.
Chiite
Nuhad Hudroj continues his electoral trips and conventions
with electorates and Beiruti effective figures, calling
citizens to choose candidates who are able to serve them. He
met also number of Seven Villages' families in Bir Hassan,
Haret Hreik and Beirut southern suburb, touring over many
inhabitants of Rmeil District, and visiting Murtran Khalil
Abi Nader.
Maronite
Habib Zoghbi met delegates of Mazraa, Tarik Jdideh and
Achrafieh families.
MP
Adnan Arakji held a press conference in the Parliament, in
Star Square, speaking of the electoral card issue, its
preparation and the slow operation in handling it to the
citizens, in addition to the big mistakes in its contents.
He presented an unsigned and unauthorized electoral card of
a female electorate.
Sunni
Akram Farhat vistied Al Bayyada Cheikhs, discussing with
them electoral concerns, as they wished him success.
Dr.
Yahya Ghaddar nominated himself for Zahrani District. He is
the first to officially nominate to this Casa.
Elias
Abou Rizk, Chief of General Workers Confederation, announced
his nomination, saying that the battle is for the affair,
not against anybody.

NORTH
PROVINCE
Members of "Coalition List" in North First
District held a meeting in MP Issam Fares' residence in
Mar Chaaya-Broumman, where he assured of accepting what
ensures cherishing democratic life, the safety of the
electoral operation, and the benefit of Akkar, Dennieh and
Bcharrey, all these could not be established unless all
cooperate with each other.
Members
of the List of "Unity and Development" completed
its discussions meetings in MP Sayed Akl's residence in
Batroun, in the presence of all the members. Matters were
discussed, after MP Musbah Ahdab's withdrawal from the list.
MP Sayed Akl affirmed that this place will not stay vacant.
Former
Minister and MP Hassan Ezzeddine announced his nomination to
the legislative elections in Sunni North First District,
pronouncing a word concerning his program in the national
and Lebanese concerns.
President
Omar Karami postpones announcing his list for today, after
the withdrawal of Islamic Group from the list. So the papers
are blended again.
Sunni
Fayssal Anwar Dernaikah declared of existing many mistakes
in the "Scratching out" lists.
Former
MP Fouad Saad announced in a crowdy political and popular
festival, set yesterday night, in the playground of Saint
Mtanious Karkafi's Monastery, in Kfarchima, the birth of his
list including:
Baabda
Casa: Attorney Salah Edward Honein, Dr. Abdallah Victor
Farhat, Attorney Antoine Ghanem (Three Maronites), MP Ayman
Choucair (Druze), MP Basem Sabeh (Chiite).
Aley
Casa: MP Abdo Bejjani and Former MP Fouad Saad (Maronites),
MP Antoine Indraous (Orthodox), MP Akram Chouhayeb (Druze
Seat), as the second Chiite seat in Baabda was left vacant,
for the sake of Hezbollah's candidate, and the same for the
Druze Second Seat in Aley, for the sake of MP Talal Arslan's.
During
the announcement of list of "Dignity and Renewal"
for Keserwan-Jbeil, Former Minister Georges Ephrem says,
heading this list: "We should go out of the isolation
circle". It consists of:
Mansour
Bonn, Camille Ziadeh, Elias Khazen, Neematallah abi Nasr, (Keserwan
Jbeil), Fares Soueid, Nazem Khoury, Mustapha Husseini (Jbeil).
From
Baalbeck Temples the list of "Baalbeck-Hermel" was
announced, including the alliance of parties with other
leading figures. President Hussein Husseini pronounced the
list agenda, affirming of the "commitment to the
national constants and contributions in achieving the area
development." In addition to President Husseini, the
other members of the list are: Minister Ghazi Zeaiter, MP's
Ammar Moussawi, Hussein Hajj Hassan, Ibrahim Bayan, Assem
Kanso, Marwan Fares, Former MP Mohammad Yaghi, Massoud
Hujairi, and Nader Succar.
