use your legal right and vote, by hurrying and submitting to
obtain your electoral card.
Directorate
General of Lebanese Interior Ministry
sets deadline dates for submitting the electoral permissions
and for withdrawing the nominations:
A-The
period for submitting the permissions ends at the hour 24
of Friday on 11/8/2000 for both Mount Lebanon and North
Districts.
B-The
period for withdrawing the nominations ends at the hour 24
of Wednesday on 16/8/2000 for the above mentioned
Districts.
Lists
began to show consecutively, where Solidarity appears to
collapse in many Districts, also consecutively,
"Crossing out" is governing the situation, and
Politicians fail to control all. A popular fidget began to
appear against "Tractors", and the imposing of
wills on people. (quoted by Ad-diyar).
President
Rafic Hariri with MP Walid Joumblatt attends the
inauguration of the Exhibition 2000 of Irfan Schools,
affirming their alliance. Ahmad Khaled made lunch party on
the honor of President Rafic Hariri, who said that Beirut is
today one hand, and what was separated through the law, is
uniting through people's hearts.
MP
Najah Wakim says that he won't back off his decision for not
nominating to the elections, unless an amendment occurs in
the law, and the packaging disappears together with the
intervention of the official systems.
List
of "National Agreement" was announced with its
electoral activities in Beirut, during a crowdy festival in
Aicha Bakkar street, in the presence of members of the list:
MP Tammam Salam, Hajj Mohammad Berjawi, and M/s Mohammad
Machnouk, Mahran Safarian, and Habib Ephrem.
Fouad
Metni says: "It is unacceptable to let kids and
children work, moreover there should be free and obligatory
education till the age of 14.
Neemani
clan honored Beirut's Sons' list headed by Engineer Fouad
Makhzoumi, in Carlton Hotel, attended by the members of the
list: Former MP Michel Sassine, MP Abrahmam Dadayan, Former
Chief Attorneys' Syndicate Antoine Calimos, Jean Pierre
Haddad, and Attorney Muhieddine Doughan.
Massoud
Achkar assails his electoral battle through 'grants of
friends'.
Catholic
Issam Haddad announced officially his nomination for Jezzine
in Interior Minister, and he continues his electoral battle.
Hezbollah-Amal
coalition (according to Ad-diyar newspaper) represents the
electoral-sectarian conflict, showing coalition electorally,
but hides disagreement on the level of leaderships.
President
Nabih Berri says that the compensation for the liberated
villages will be fully executed.
MP
Nadim Salem accuses President Nabih Berri of 'making
advantage of the State's apparatus to his own interest',
saying that 'Berri abbreviated the South… And his armed
militia terrifies people'.
President
Omar Karami says: "Alliance should be either full or
let it not be. If the same faces are all going to reappear,
then let the State use appointment instead of
elections."
Sunni
Abdul Rahman Nafedh Moukaddem announced his nomination for
Tripoli.
Islamic
Group issued its report regarding the circumstances of its
alliance with Karami and Mouawwad, saying, "We care for
allying with candidates of the Christian arena".
Sunni
Wassim Ezzeddine returned back of his withdrawal, and
re-announced his nomination for Tripoli.

of Free Will was announced in Comfort Hotel, Hazmieh, of:
Engineer Georges Eliyya Bou Chdid, General Rafic Feghali,
Dr. Souhail Asaad Aawar, Dr. Fadi Romanos Gergis, Attorney
Hafez Anis Jaber.
Attorney
Karim Sarkis held a press conference explaining the
circumstances, which imposed, on him to withdraw from the
elections saying "As ghosts intervened, I
withdrew".
Announcement
of Lsit of "Chouf for All" took place in Attorney
Naji Boustani's residence in Deir El Kamar, among crowd of
folks.It consists of: Cheikh Nabil Imad, Fares Zebian (Druze),
Ghassan Naim Moghabghab (Catholic), Naji Boustani, Charles
Ghafari and Samir Fouad Kiwan (Maronite), Elias Barraj
(Sunni of Ikleem district), the second Sunni was for Fayssal
Hamdan who announced his withdrawal, yesterday and mentioned
reasons for his step.
Catholic
Ghassan Moghabghab was segregated from Liberals National
Party, by a decision from the latter's side.
