Directorate
General of Lebanese Interior Ministry sets deadline dates
for submitting the electoral permissions and
for withdrawing the nominations:
A-The
period for submitting the permissions ends at the hour 24
of Friday on 11/8/2000 for both Mount Lebanon and
North Districts.
B-The
period for withdrawing the nominations ends at the hour 24
of Wednesday on 16/8/2000 for the above mentioned
Districts.

Dr.
Fouad Metni says: "Yes for representing people, but no
for acting on them."
MP
Dr. Hussein Yatim says: "President Nabih Berri
undertakes full responsibility of alienating me, so do ask
him." He added: "Forfeiting started when detailed
names were imposed on the lists."
Chief
of National Audio-visual Press Council Nasser Kandil
continues his trips, with his electoral campaign, visiting
many Beiruti families and meeting in Nahmeh families of Arab
Slaughter and Quarantine.
Ahmad
Tabbara, famous by his deeds and activities in his father
Toufic Tabbara's Educational Center, says: "Nothing
would be more right than the right itself."
MP
Samir Azar replies at MP Nadim Salem's comments, saying
"MP Nadim Salem rode the 'bus', the subject of
complaint, during the previous eight years, and at the same
time being distinguished through handling Ministry
portfolios for three times." MP Azar denied accusing MP
Salem of attending meetings held by Liberation &
Development Mass, in a way to confiscate other's opinion. MP
Samir Azar, with Attorney Georges Najm and Dr. Antoine
Khoury are the final names in Jezzine, and they all focus on
obtaining Christian voters. But, the boycotting tune still
appears, whereas other lists prepare their alliances.
Hezbollah's
and Amal Momvement's sources agree that the decision has
been taken for assaulting the elections on compromise basis,
so as to protect the victory of the liberation. Hezbollah
says: "the alliance with Amal Movement arouses from a
national urge, and not an electoral one. Monopolizing the
decision between Amal and Hezbollah is not of our
responsibility, it lies under the ceiling of law."
President
Kamel Asaad's supporters arranged for him a crowdy reception
in Kfartibnit, where he returned to his residence, in
Nabatieh. President Asaad denies domination and mandate on
the people. He was received on shoulders, from the courtyard
of the Governmental Saray in nabatieh, to his Party's office
in the public square. Rice and roses were thrown on him,
together with women's shrills, and flying pigeons. He
continued: "We are united facing the hands, which cut
and not plant, and what unites us, is our free conscience
and belief in Lebanon, in particular, in the South, and our
rejection to the forms of domination, oppression and
mandating the nation, who is the only owner of power."
As
per Ad-diyar 14/8: "Christians' rage in the South
exceeds the divisions issue, to finding themselves in a
stage of being minimized in role and existence, because all
profits were divided openly between Amal Movement and
Hezbollah".
Minister
of Information Anwar Khalil says that "We are facing
big challenges, we have to confront them so as to protect
the Lebanese victory. So, in order to complete the
liberation of all southern lands, we have also to liberate
the Southerner's abilities to share in re-construction on
all levels."
Socialist
24 October Movement supports fully Charles Ayoub in Batroun.
Ayoub says: "Let's unmask together the dirty political
game." He also urges voters to use history and their
conscience in voting.
Sunni
Fayssal Dernaika exposed his program infront of Tripolitans
saying that there is a chance for the walls of the lists to
be penetrated.
Sunni
Abdul Nasser Raad nominates himself on Tripoli, as the
Syrian National Social Party allowed its members to nominate
themselves to the elections.
A
seed of a third list in North Second District appears,
launched between Bassam Dayeh and Nabih Chahine.
MP
Musbah Ahdab clarified that he is not working on installing
a third list for the North Second District, and that, he is
on the way to work with a small group. He mentioned to the
press conference in his residence in Tripoli, that the main
Agenda should be that of development in the social and
economical domains. This Agenda should be offered to
citizens, but unfortunately it is still absent."
Hassan
Ezzeddine announced himself to Tripoli, after having Syrian
National Social Party allowed its members to nominate
freely.
MP
Jihad Samad urged citizens to densely vote, saying that the
alliances in the list of "Popular Will" come as
result of harmony between its members.
The
ball now is in Dr. Aleber Mkhaiber's playgroun, so as to
determine his alternatives, after Pierre Gemayyel's decision
to nominate himself alone. MP Nassib Lahhoud still waits for
having the mediators end their mission successfully, so as
to complete his list. A preparatory meeting is set for
announcing officially the list of MP Nassib Lahhoud, who
says, in reply to Minister Michel Murr: "When the
politician becomes irrational, he uses bad words."
Nassib Lahhoud denoted to the agreement of all to keep the
fourth Maronite seat in his list vacant, whereas the Second
Orthodox seat will remain hung to the circumstances of the
events, and to Dr. Albert Mkhaiber's attitudes.
MP
Talal Arslan announced his support to the list of "Chouf
For All" renewing his refusal to the imposed will of
the Power of Sinful Money, as he calls it, during a popular
reception gathering many people from different directions of
the Mountain.
A
Third List was announced in Keserwan by Dr. Youssef Khalil,
from Annaya-Jbeil: Dr. Youssef Khalil, Attorney Joseph Abou
Charaf, Engineer Clovis Khazen, Attorney Antoine Hkayyem,
Attorney Elie Zwein (Keserwan). MP Dr. Mahmoud Awwad,
Attorney Jean Hawwat, Attorney Fadi Rouhana Sakr (Jbeil).
Former
Minister and MP Fares Bweiz announced the birth of the list
of "Popular Decision" in Adma, saying: "They
want a voiceless parliament, but, we won't yield under the
stress of overwhelming and minimizing." His speech was
pronounced among crowdy electoral festival attendants, in
Regency Palace Hotel in Adman, introducing his list as
follows: Cheikh Farid Khazen, Mrs. Gilberte Zwein, Attorney
Maroun Abou Charaf, Dr. Chaker Salameh, in addition to Fares
Bweiz (Keserwan), MP Emile Nawfal, Dr. Francois Bassil, and
Abbas Hachem (Jbeil).
Chouf
Bachar Boustani says: "Being withdrawn, does not mean
my retirement off the political career."
Maronite
Dr. Nabil Ghanem believes in Lebanon and Lebanese, saying
that what is required now "is a grand rescuing workshop
in the economical domain."
