Directorate
General of Lebanese Interior Ministry
sets deadline dates for submitting the electoral permissions
and for withdrawing the nominations:
A-The
period for submitting the permissions ends at the hour 24
of Friday on 11/8/2000 for both Mount Lebanon and North
Districts.
B-The
period for withdrawing the nominations ends at the hour 24
of Wednesday on 16/8/2000 for the above mentioned
Districts.

Dr. Hussein Yatim announced yesterday his withdrawal, in the
presence of President Nabih Berri, Deputy Excellent Jaafari
Moufti Abdul Amir Kabalan, and Chief of Supreme Islamic
Chiite Council Imam Mohammad Mehdi Chamseddine, in the
latter's residence, so as to keep the unity of the Chiite
row.
Chief
of National Audio-visual Press Council Nasser Kandil
continues his trips, with his electoral campaign, visiting
Kannariet in the south, stressing on the relation, which
ties Beirut to the South. He with Ghazi Aridi pronounced
words greeting South's sons, accepting invitation set by
Beirut Developing Organization for Dignity Candidates for
Beirut Third District, attended by Candidates Dr. Ghinwa
Jalloul, and Serje Torr Sarkisian, who also pronounced
speeches.
Minorities
Habib Ephrem, of "National Compromise List" headed
by MP Tammam Salam, continues his popular and official
visits meeting Siriane Orthodox Mutran Athnassious Ephrem,
and other Evangelical and Kobti Churches.

Bahaeddine Itani said, during his visit to Lebanese Republic
Mufti Cheikh Mohammad Rachid Kabbani, "We consider that
the elections being main station for the political career in
Lebanon, and we are working on the National unity".
Sunni
Dr. Mohammad Khatib says, during a crowdy convention with
his village's sons: "Our project is to serve the
country, the people and the nation."
President
Nabih Berri and Sayyed Hassan Nassrallah meet this week to
solve the complex of representing Jezzine.
Engineer
Labib Abou Atmeh continues his assault of the electoral
battle, during a popular convention, titling his campaign by
the name: "Dignity". He is working on electoral
alliance, which is to be crystallized within few days.
"Coalition
List" headed by MP Issam Fares, met in his residence in
Baino-Akkar, stressing on the demanded dense presence of
voters, especially the youths, as they are the bases of the
State.
The
list of "The Third Alternative" appears in
Tripoli's sky soon, as MP Musbah Ahdab continues to nominate
alone. He is going to give today, a speech in a press
conference, mentioning his working on installing a list
called "The Third Alternative", which might
include him with MP Omar Miskawi, Bassam Dayeh, Mustapha
Ajam, Mohammad Mattar, Camille Mrad (Sunni), Antoine Habib
(Orthodox), Georges Chabtini (Maronite), Imad Adel Mahfoud (Alawite)
(Tripoli), the, Nabih Chahine, Najib Boulos, Giriyel Dreik
(Orthodox) (Koura), Robert Boulos (Maronite, Zghorta), Lili
Saadeh, georges Daou, Hanna Bitar (Marointe Batroun) and
Army General Hassan Hallak (Sunni, Menieh).
Minister
Najib Mikati answered at President Omar Karami's
accusations, saying that the latter's televised speech was
improper.

Beiruti
Mohammad Rachid Cardouhi supports Charles Ayoub in
Batroun.The latter called his battle as that of 'A pen, and
intellect, that of people's conscience." He urges
people to vote and not to let the opportunity elapses from
them as it did twice, on 1992, and 1996. He calls them to
vote for the man who owns the courage to say 'yes' and 'no'.

Attorney Emil Kanaan wrote in Ad-diyar of his withdrawal.

Nassib Lahhoud renounced the aggressions against Metni's
citizens' properties, those who shared in hanging his
pictures and slogans, which created fears of Metni's 'Intifadah'.

Attorney Youssef Kanaan withdrew from Metn elections.

Albert Mkhaiber announced yesterday his list including him
and attorney Hanna Chediac.

Phalangist
Attorney Mounir Hajj says: "We are working on
establishing an independent Phalangist Parliamentary mass,
cooperating with the State, on the basis of the Phalangist's
constants," during a meeting for the Central Council of
the Party.

of "Chouf for All" headed by Attorney Naji
Boustani, and membership of MP Zaher Khatib, Nabil Imad,
Fares Zebian, Elias Abdul Salam Barraj, Ghassan Moghabghab,
Charles Ghafari, and Samir Kiwan met with popular crowds
from various Choufi Districts (Coast, and Mountain).
