use your legal right and vote, by hurrying and submitting to
obtain your electoral card.
Directorate General of Lebanese Interior Ministry
sets deadline dates for submitting the electoral permissions
and for withdrawing the nominations:
A-The
period for submitting the permissions ends at the hour 24
of Friday on 18/8/2000 for Beirut, Bekaa and South
Provinces and their Districts.
B-The
period for withdrawing the nominations ends at the hour 24
of Wednesday on 24/8/2000 for the above mentioned
Provinces and their Districts.
A
celebration was set for the List of "National
Accord" in Bachoura, attended by its members, headed by
MP Tammam Salam, who pronounced a speech saying that
"The Accord will remain our pioneer for the
future".
President
Hariri's media office replied on the Official Media, saying,
"Our reply will be through the Ballot Boxes".
President Rafic Hariri attended festivals for his Beirut
Dignity list in the Capital, and said that there exists a
battle in the three Beirut Districts, and that the elections
are not packaged, where all should vote.
President
Nabih Berri, and during the inauguration of the Schools
Campus in Deir Zahrani, addressed people saying: "Your
support to the list of "Resistance and
Development" is a rejection for considering the South
as being a weak point." He insisted on keeping the
alliance with Hezbollah till after the elections.
Sunni
Dr. Abdul Rahman Bizri, Former Minister Nazih Bizri's son,
announced his withdrawal, during a press conference.
Unknowns
riding a civil car, shot fire on Former House Speaker Kamel
Asaad's palace in Kartibnit, Nabatieh, on midnight, the day
before yesterday, the guards replied on the shooting, but no
injuries were reported. President Asaad will launch a press
conference, in his palace in Kfartibnit, on Monday to
express his reaction against the shooting accident and the
breaking in of the Security forces to his palace.
Ambassador
Khalil Kazhem Khalil withdrew saying that the
"Membership of the Parliament is now losing its
simplest formulaes, and became of no aim, or
responsibility".
Maronite
Samir Khater withdrew.
"Popular
Mass" list members attended a festival in Kfar Zibd, in
the presence of the Chief and members of the Municipal
Council, Mayors and crowds of citizens. MP Nicola Fattouch
regretted the mean level reached in the political speech,
whereas MP Khalil Hrawi said that no peace could be achieved
without Syria.
Sound
bomb was thrown on MP Abdul Rahim Mrad in Chtaura at his
residence, leaving no harms or injuries. He held a press
conference in his residence in Chtaura, saying "We
wished to have civilized means used in these
elections", warning "the directions performing
such deeds are sensing their failure, so they use such
harmful methods."
