Directorate General of Lebanese Interior Ministry sets deadline dates for submitting the electoral permissions and for withdrawing the nominations:

A-The period for submitting the permissions ends at the hour 24 of Friday on 18/8/2000 for Beirut, Bekaa and South Provinces and their Districts.

B-The period for withdrawing the nominations ends at the hour 24 of Wednesday on 23/8/2000 for the above mentioned Provinces and their Districts.

Islamic organizations give up MP Abdallah Babetti.

"Future" electoral machine supports list of "Solidarity and Development". A report came noting that a festival was to be set in Tripoli Exhibition Center in Tripoli, by this list, but was prohibited from that. Then this list had a festival in Menieh, they called for the cooperation with the loyal people in Lebanon so as to exhibit real stability.

MP Jean Obeid of the list of "Solidarity and Development" pronounced a speech saying: "We had not moved from the extreme right to the extreme left, we had not told the Moslems what we are afraid of telling to the Christians, and we had not talked with the Syrians words, which we are shy to tell to the Lebanese."

President Omar Karami says, "Money owners are accumulating their wealth to fight us", during a oratory festival set by his list in Menieh town.

"Independent list" members held a meeting for them in Gebrieh Dreik's residence in Anfeh, in the presence of all its members: Omar Miskawi, Bassam Dayeh, Camille Mrad, Mustapha Ajam, Mohammad Iskandar, Robert Boulos, Najib Boulos, Georges Daou, Laila Saadeh, and Abdul Rahim Alameddine.

MP Michel Pharaon visited Maronite Mutran Boulos Mattar in Achrafieh, discussing the general situation.

An electoral festival was set in Chiah for the members of Beirut's Dignity list for the three Districts, where Judge Eido had pronounced a speech in the name of these members considering that curses are the weapon of the impotent.

Nasser Kandil spoke among Mayors and fishers of Ain Mreisseh district, stressing on the project of the Dignity List so as to encounter the economical crisis.

Maronite Dr. Habib Zoghbi says "We are in need of a modern program to rise with the country from the economical crisis." He calls for setting a Party law so as to curb the sectarianism, and called everybody to vote in the ballot boxes.

MP Bechara Merhej and Nabil De Frege visited Ballouneh office of Dignity List, which was previously exposed to fire shooting, then met some Beiruti families such as the Kouzis.

A divorce took place now between former MP Habib Sadek and the Communists. Sadek announces his list tomorrow in Saida.

President Nabih Berri said "What is happening now is the battle for the Government", he affirmed, while meeting Chief of auditors' Syndicate Melhem Karam, of the deep alliance with Hezbollah, so as to reach the integration.

Chiite Attorney Majed Samih Fayyad visited Ahmad Chawki Al Amin in Majdal Silim among a crowd of citizens.

Deputy General Secretary of the Lebanese Communist Party candidate Saadallh Mazraani had a convention in Berthy village, east of Saida, then in Kantara, Anssariat, Marjeyoun and Nabatieh.

Attorney Tarek Chehab of list of "Democratic Alternative" continued his electoral activity, visiting villages of Kfar Hamam and Kawkaba, meeting Marjeyouni leading figures.

Riad Said Asaad continued his electoral activity visiting Jubaa, Anssariat, Ain Kana, Ankoun, Kafra, and Bint Jbeil.

MP Bahiya Hariri says "The elections are a station between the liberation and liberty."

Elias Abou Rizk, Chief of General Workers Confederation, allies with the list of "Democratic Alternative".

Bint Jbeil Mahmoud Baydoun announced his continuance to assail the electoral battle.

Souhail Hamadeh is no more nominated to Baalbeck-Hermel.

A third list was announced today from Hermel, named by "Loyalty for Baalbeck - Hermel's sons" headed by Ali Sabri Hamadeh, in a popular festival in Dr. Saadoun Hamadeh's residence near Sabri Hamadeh's cemetry. It included: Ali Hamadeh, Duraid Yaghi, Assem Raad, Mohammad Sayyed Kassem, Fadi Younes, Hassane Rifai, Tarek Habchi and Albert Mansour (who finally separated himself from Cheikh Sobhi Tfeily's list).

Today, list of "Bekaa's Decision" will be announced by Cheikh Sobhi Tfeily including: former MP Saoud Roufayel, Jehad Riad Taha, Dr. Saleh el Chall, Abbas Yazbeck, Mohammad Sulaiman, Hafez Amhaz, Rifaat Masri, Mounir Hujayri, Chawki Fakhri.

MP Dr. Ismail Sukkarieh continued his trips meeting many areas' leading figures and citizens, insisting on developing the area.

President Hussein Husseini says "Troika had vanished for no return, we are now in the State of Establishments". This was spoken during a press seminar in his residence in Baalbeck, on the occasion of the anniversary of the constitutional reform of Al-Taef Agreement.

MP Walid Joumblatt tripped in Jiyyeh and Baassir villages meeting their leading figures, then accepted the lunch invitation in Aley. He urged the government to widen its thinking for its benefit, and to have an open breast for those who are going to bring back the investments and projects to Lebanon.

Electoral competitions climate is prevailing in Chouf between the two main lists: MP walid Joumblatt's (Patriotic Struggle Front), and Attorney Naji Boustani's (Chouf For All), racing to acquire the Christian's voice, noting that the Islamic Group decided not to vote fully for the list, choosing the candidates they would prefer.

MP Talal Arslan sponsors an agreement between Hezbollah and former Minister and MP Elias Hobaika, saying "the adversaries have nothing but marketing rumors."

"Conscience of Metn" list is announced including Dr. Paul Gemayyel, Nabil Lahhoud, and Dr. Mitri Bittar.
