Incidents:
-
Three
fundamental files remained in the first place of concerns
today, and seized the attention of the popular and
official medias. First, is a regional file, which
indicates to winning of Brig. Gen. Bachar Asad in the
public plebiscite for the Syrian Presidency, by 97.29%,
and what is expected from him as to carry new aspects in
Syria and Lebanon.
-
The
medias pursued what was said of new dealing in the
Lebanese arena starting after the Oath Assembly on the 17
th of this July, in addition to information regarding a
new economical trend, which dashes out of the integration
with Lebanon.
-
The
other two files are local, the first is related to the
living and social rough situation, which is expressed
today through a demonstration called by General Workers
Confederation, protesting the deterioration in salaries
and wages, and the increase of the living burdens on all
the citizens, under this high cost of living. In addition
to the back-off of the services, particularly the
Electrical Power crisis, where people suffered of, and led
to the conviction of the Board of Directors of the
Electricite Du Liban to the Court.
-
Then,

News:
-
An-nahar
wrote about President of the Republic, that, away from
whether being a support to his son in assailing the Metn
elections, or not, there exists a truth that should be
believed according to the President, especially when he
explains to his visitors his disgust of the climate that
prevails on these elections, which pushes him to cease
discussing this issue with any of the MP candidates, and
to consider the Republic Presidency unconcerned with this
event. An-nahar said that some candidates asked for
suspending the right of voting for the newly Lebanese
nationals, till the end of the appeal lawsuit in their
identity, which is to be determined by the State
Consulting Council.

As-safir,
regarding the electoral issue, mentioned that many MP's
started taking all their belongings from their offices in
the Parliament, to their houses. They, inclusively justify
this action as to their position in their electoral
battle, which does not allow them to bet on re-staying in
the House. This newspaper said that the attractive issue
shown in most of these MP's, who stand quite on the edge
of farewelling the parliamentary life, is that those of
the electoral districts whose lists are still unannounced,
and their alliances are still unclear, leads us obviously
to deduce that the districts whose lists are still not
formed, are not away from being sifted. As-safir
considered that this aspect which appears even before
submitting the nominations, denotes to an issue of great
importance represented by the following: Reaching the
semi-final winning in the elections, is connected with
what the keys who establish the lists, these keys
enable the candidate to predict his success, right upon
announcing the lists and not after opening the ballot
boxes. As-safir also noticed that the electoral operation
witnesses bartering in the districts instead of sharing a
unique list. As-safir said that Minister of Labor received
40 applications from huge establishments wishing to
diminish their activities, such as "Bata" for
shoes, which informed of its intention to close its
production division, then "Malikan" the glass
factory, which asked of diminishing its activity and
dismissing its labors.
-
The
Future newspaper followed up the situation in the North
First District/Bsharrey-Dennieh-Akkar, seeing that this
district does not bear surprises, especially that the
coalition of the powerful needs to have the determination
of the perspectives and positions of principle currents
and parties. According to this newspaper the date of 20 th
of July is decisive as to the extent of crystallizing the
alliances which are not going to bring new news. The
Future newspaper also cared for the Phalangist versus
Phalangist struggle on the electoral seats, and the
divisions that this Party witnesses.
