Significant Incidents:

  • Two main documents were of concern to the official political and popular medias, are: evidencing operation of the withdrawal, with its atmosphere of ebb and tide, and the interior disputes regarding the unification of ministries and councils, together with their results revealed on the elections.   • An-nahar presented the report of the Maronite Clergymen Council that assailed a big attack on the State, the government, and the general situation. The Newspaper, which witnessed the meeting of the mentioned Council today, stopped at a hot confrontation between the government and the Opposition that will invest the discussions for electoral purposes.


  • The Future newspaper mentioned, Southwise, that this time and spontaneously, no renewal will take place for UNIFIL in the South upon its termination period, at the end of this July. It viewed that there exists a European-American-Israeli compromise, supported by international forces, to close the security-military file in the South. Future newspaper followed-up the electoral attack in the North assailed by MP Ahmad Karami against the government, saying that his strong relationship with Franjieh, his alliance with Hariri, and that all matters are possible. The Newspaper had a report on the 'Crossing out' lists in the North where faults prohibit the voters from obtaining the electoral card. It pursued the electoral motion in Beirut to which the electricity Power is a fundamental issue. It watched the variety in the electoral portrait in the North-Akkar First District, indicating to as a 'center of weight'.


  • As-safir quoted from some MP's of their trend to resign if the project of unifying the ministries and councils passed through the Parliamentary Councils. However, they considered that the passing of such project in the Councils does not mean that it will have normal reaction in the general assembly of the House.


  • Ad-diyar drew the attention to the concurrence of the severe report declared by Maronite Clergymen Council against the government and the general situation, with the campaign against the government assailed by the Opposition, President Hariri, and the General Workers Confederation.
