  • A meeting will be held today between President Emile Lahhoud and International Delegate Terry Rod Larsen, in the presence of President Salim Hoss, members of the Lebanese team and the delegation accompanying the UN Delegate. This meeting is the second during 24 hours and deals in the Israeli breaking through the Borders. President Lahhoud exclaimed about the silence that UN shows against such breaking. He faced the International Delegation saying: "Why do you accept Israel's objections and refuse ours?"


  • The International Delegation complained of not having adequate maps and instruments to use for confirming the Israeli withdrawal. However, it seems that both, the Lebanese and International sides agreed on field survey for the Borders through the UNIFIL's Helicopters.


  • All the above was accompanied by the UN General Secretary, Kofi Anan's call to the Lebanese Government to expand its legal authority in the South, explaining that this is the Government's responsibility and not the International forces' whose mission is to aid Lebanon to regain its sovereignty.


  • In Lisbon, Clinton-Barak Summit ignored the Syrian track and focused on breaking the immobility of the Palestinian track. An Israeli officer declared that the American President suggested on Barak a military aid to construct new locations along with the Lebanese Borders. As far as the Israeli withdrawal, Clinton described as extremely brave, at the same time the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs, David Levi, expected a positive development with Syria, despite its concurrence with the bids for constructing new houses in a colony in the occupied Golan.


  • In Beirut, a Syrian military delegation of high rank headed by Lt.Gen. Mustapha Tlass, visited Presidents Lahhoud, Berri and Hoss, and Hizbollah, congratulating them for the South Liberation and it was an occasion to preview the developments.


  • In the electoral domain, a political attention was drawn on having the Head of Doctors' Syndicate, Ghattas Khoury joined President Hariri's list in Beirut First District for the Maronite Seat, which might create a strong confrontation with Member Ghassan Matar.


  • President Hoss' environment said that the Liberation of the South gave him a positive shot in the elections for the Third District, but the economical and living situation reflect negative sign.


  • As for the situation of electricity, the rationing is wider, awaiting the arrival of Banyas ship, next Monday, that bears 30 thousand tons Fuel, to renourish the Energetic Jiyeh Factory. The hours for electricity will increase from 70% to Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and South, to 100%, according to the promise of the Minister of Electricty, and the General Director of Electricity of Lebanon.
