Significant
Incidents:
-
The
documents concerning 'what after Israeli withdrawal' and
treating its penetrations, captured the attentions and
follow-up of political medias, especially to the
suggestion that France had claimed for re-operating April
Understanding Committee. Of course, it faced the Lebanese
and UN's rejection, dashing from the fact that the
Understanding is no more considered as valid, and has no
relation with the present situation. And, that UNIFIL
remains the principle issue, whereas the issue of reviving
the Truce Committee is under study.
-
Expected
is the continuation of the checking operation on the
Israeli border penetrations, in the same time where an
Israeli position appeared through its Prime Minister Barak,
related to the Syrian track, declaring that he is ready to
negotiate, but would not give up Lake Tabaraya.
-
The
medias followed-up the re-opening of the corruption
documents in Syria, during the time where the Syrian
People's Council approves today, of nominating Brig. Gen.
Bachar Asad to the presidency, appointing a date for the
Plebiscite, to be, according to sources, on the beginning
of the coming July.

Future
newspaper quoted from UN sources, that April Understanding
became ancient, and that Lebanon is clinging to the Truce
Agreement, whereas Israel considers the latter as null.
This source, through this newspaper, indicated that
Lebanon primary and principally demand, is relying on the
UNIFIL in the South.

An-nahar
mentioned in an article written by one of its editors,
that the electoral machine in Lebanon is wholly directed
by the Syrian Principal General Ghazi Kanaan, and the
Director General of the General Security Office General
Jamil As-sayyed. An-nahar viewed that the loyalty to
Lahhoud portrays the significant measure for Damascus to
choose its allies. It also pursued the electoral file and
published a report on Baabda-Aley District, saying that
the poles are waiting for Hezbollah to act in this
District, to whom all the eyes are forwarded, and who is
infront of three choices: Either allies with Joumblatt
where all know each candidate's power and bloc, or allies
with Talal Arslan which is straitening to the Party, or
assailing the battle with its ally MP Pierre Deccache. An-nahar
wondered if the Christian candidates could change the
equation? The newspaper, also, considered the electoral
situation in the North, especially in the first District (Bsharrey,
Dennieh, Akkar) saying that there exists a flagrant
discard of applying the electoral card, due to its
burdens, and that there is a marathonic race to share in
the list of the powerful. An-nahar also quoted by MP
Tammam Salam that he is with the coalitions, considering
that the lists formed in Beirut, the capital, are hasty,
calling to use the means of radicalism.
-
As-safir
mentioned that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan
Nassrallah visits today the Republic Palace, and meets
President Lahhoud, to accentuate on the distinguished
relationship between the Resistance and the State. This
visit opens a new page of official relations between both
sides. As-safir said that the construction program of the
liberated areas could be accomplished without the American
aids, and that Lebanon refuses conditions that aim to
implement an arrangement agreement with Israel. It denoted
that the inhabitants of the liberated villages demanded
clarifications regarding the criterions considered by the
hired team that studies the volume and shape of the
financial compensations granted to them.
-
Al-hayat
published a report regarding the reasons for nominating
Bachar Asad for Presidency, saying that they are seven,
first of all is confronting the corruption, the
interaction between two generations, and the Peace as a
Strategic Alternative.
-
Ad-diyar
mentioned that the Chiite quadrilateral meeting that
included Presidents, Nabih Berri and Husein El Huseini,
Imam Mohammad Mehdi Chamseddine, and Cheikh Abdul Amir
Kabalan, was not aimed against Hezbollah, but was for
cutting the path on the dissension, and blocking the way
on penetrating the classes. Ad-diyar affirmed that the
members of that meeting agreed on the necessity of having
the government receive the situation in the South,
together with its establishments. Ad-diyar said, regarding
the electoral concern, where Nassib Lahhoud's Metn
alliances started to show clearly, as this list will show
up within the two weeks. It realized that there exists a
mild back off in relations between Lahhoud and Albert
Mkhaiber, for not neutralizing the Orthodox seats. And,
that there is a trend for being closer to Auguste Bakhos,
and for a constant ally with Michel Smaha.
