Significant Incidents:

• The main issue that captured the attentions and appeared openly and strongly, was the Lebanese legislative elections file.

• It was represented by two factors: first, the meeting between Speaker, President Nabih Berri, and Hezbollah General Secretary Sayyed Hassan Nassrallah, and the results that outcome, reaffirming their electoral alliance all through Lebanon, which dashes the electoral battle to reality and effectiveness. And, second, where Prime Minister Vice President Michel El Murr re-appointed a timetable for the elections, by delaying them one more week, so as to be on the 27 th of coming August, shortened to be two weeks instead of three.

• Other cases were not absent from attention, especially what contributes to the Southern matter, the question of verifying the withdrawal, and treating the Israeli penetrations.

• Two points aroused, the first is the admittance of International Security Council of seven Israeli penetrations out of ten, which were previously handled by Lebanon to the Security Council. That action recorded a Lebanese satisfaction, expressed by President of the Republic, Emile Lahhoud, together with the official and popular medias. And the second, is the arrival of the advance guards of the International Force strengthening UNIFIL, to Lebanon, which means that the deployment of such force in the liberated lands is approaching.

• In the meantime, many demands appeared calling for the Army deployment in the liberated areas, especially those of the Speaker, while the checking operation of the withdrawal continues.

• The medias followed-up the authorization of the Syrian People's Council, with full consent, to nominate Bachar Asad, as President of the Republic, and to appoint the Plebiscite on the 10 th of July, considering the orientations taken by the new Leadership.

• Future newspaper made a report about the electoral keys in Akkar, and said that the attitudes towards them vary, as they are more than mediators and less than officials. Future newspaper saw that 15% of Tripoli's electorates got the electoral card, which waits for its application.

• An-nahar said that the meeting between Lahhoud and Nassrallah, last Monday, and the results of distinguished relationship, gave many impressions and meanings, specifying the nature of the future relationship after the legislative elections, and the role that Hezbollah might play, sharing in the governments of this Presidency. In addition to what Lahhoud demands from these elections to be a separation between two phases during one Presidency. An-nahar denoted that Nabih Berri, after meeting Nassrallah, will be the Speaker of the House for the coming five years, which end on 2005, i.e. the second year of ending the President's ruling period. This fact indicates not expecting any disturbances against Berri during the summer elections. This newspaper mentioned that communications are made between many figures and Christian organizations to form a reference position performing final choice of the operative representatives of their environment to effect them in joining the lists. It also mentioned that USA and Iran will cooperate together with European Union, Japan, Canada, Arab Gulf Countries, and international establishments in a meeting specially made by the countries granting the re-construction of the South.

• As-safir viewed that the denotions by the Constitutional Council regarding the Akl Sheikh Institution, represent a reading to the concept of parliamentary representation. It saw that it forms a new system for shaking the Sectarianism in Lebanon. As-safir also made an interview with Sayyed Hassan Nassrallah who spoke of a plan to liberate the border fence, to dismantle (SLA) Lahed Army from inside, and to unstring the militias before the 7 th of July.

• Ad-diyar said that the Islamic Group's decision in the North for nominating each of Abdallah Babetti and Asaad Harmouch was stricken by Dr. Fathi Yakan's attitude, which reached to pulling out of the Group. It explains that the latter had determined his nomination away from the Group's line, counting on the Islamic medias' possible support.

• 'Al-kifah el-arabi' said that one of Tripoli's MP's works on removing Judgement verdict issued by Court, as it harms his supporters.

• Al-liwaa presented a report regarding the dealing of Beirut and other municipalities with the candidates' pictures. It received clarification against this chaos, by having some of these municipalities remove these pictures as they harm the public sight.
