  • The issue of Shebaa Farms is today among the main International Lebanese topics in the talks held between the Presidents, Lahhoud & Hoss, and the Delegated Teri Larsen, who, bears, in addition, other questions regarding the Lebanese Interior Forces spread in the South, the renewal of the UNIFIL in July, and the delivery of the Israeli withdrawn territories from these troops to the Lebanese Army.


  • An international frontiers drawing expert visited Lebanon before Larsen’s arrival, and met Lebanese security officers, who in turn, showed him maps confirming the belonging of Shebaa farms to Lebanon, and are part of the southern territories. However, a Lebanese diplomatic source assured that ‘If Israel had not withdrawn from such territory, it means that the Lebanese Resistance will continue its battle and operations’. Syria also agreed that Shebaa farms are Lebanese territories.


  • Israeli Occupation Troops bombarded the village of Habbouch causing the injury of 12 among them a baby. Then, followed by a morning bombardment, killing, according to the French Press, an aged mother in her 80’s with her 40 years old daughter.


  • American Information disclosed that Washington had provided Israel with a Laser System Anti- Katyoshia, to spread along with the Lebanese Frontiers.


  • In Palmyra, Syria, the Syrian, Egyptian, and Saudi Ministers of Foreign Affairs continue their meetings today having in their Agenda the main Issue: Area Peace Process. News recommended of a probable summit, the coming week, gathering the three Leaders: Presidents Assad and Mobarak, and Prince Abdallah.


  • The three Arab Ministers supported again the Lebanese opinion towards the Israeli’s withdrawal, and its demand for the indemnification for all the casualties.


  • Al Charaa indicated to the continuity of the communications with Washington. Moussa spoke of non-isolating Syria; on the other hand, Al Fayssal confirmed on opening the door of Peace whenever it is closed.


  • Apart from the Israeli’s withdrawal issue, some communications are made between Hizbollah and Amal Movement to reach a compromise on the allied seats in the South, especially as related to Jezzine and Nabatieh. Some informers said that Hizbollah continues sharing opinions with President Berri and the Jezzini effective personalities to use the results as a sample for Nabatieh.


  • In Beirut, President Hariri wishes to hold meetings with his candidates nominated to the three Districts, whereas President Hoss viewed from his electoral machine the names to be supported away from the Third District, in confrontation with Hariri’s lists.


  • In the North, Minister Franjieh’s visitors informed that he trends to ally with Hariri’s line, in the time where President Karameh insisted on the final divorce with Franjieh.


  • Berri called for an open legislative meeting on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to study and decide the received plans and suggestions. It was understood, that a suggested accelerated law will be put again for discussion during this meeting, which aims for using the Identity card or certificate during the coming Parliamental elections.


  • As regarding the economical and financial situation, Minister Korom stated that it is unaccepted to continue with the unlimited spending policy, and called for breaking the routine used in the preparation of the Public Balance Statement. He insisted that there should be a control for the expenses, indicating that real abstemiousness had not begun yet.


  • This speech reflected the ‘back off’ of the Central Bank’s currency assets by 79 million dollars, i.e. by 1.1% during the second half of April.


  • However, the Monetary Mass recorded a liquidation ‘back off’ in Lebanese Pounds by 3.59%, during the period between the 14th and the 20th of April. Also, the total accumulated Property taxes, collected during the first semester of this year, decreased by 22% in comparison with the first semester of the past year.
