The European
Delegate, Megel Ankhel Mauratinos, runs discussions in
Beirut, today, focusing on the future of the Peace Process
in the region. He had ensured of the European support to
Lebanon after the withdrawal.

The withdrawal
topic was the main issue in Cairo Summit discussions
between the two Presidents, Hafez Asad and Husni Moubarak.
Those discussions ended on agreeing for a meeting to be
held by Foreign Ministers of Damascus Announcement
countries, in the coming month; and if necessary, may lead
to have an Arab Foreign Ministers meeting.

According to what
the Egyptian and Syrian Foreign Ministers declared, the
Presidential summit came with a conclusion that insists on
a quick and comprehensive withdrawal from the South, and
refuses the fact that Israel implements Decision 425 in
order to get rid of applying the rest of the international
decisions.

Antoine Lahed
pleaded, in the past few hours, mercy from President Emile
Lahhoud, for all his militia members who were dealing with
Israel. But, Prime Minister, Salim Hoss, called him to
surrender himself to the Lebanese Court, since he
confessed of his responsibility. President Hoss indicated
that the inward militias admitted the Taef Agreement and
delivered their weapons, whereas Lahed Militia continued
dealing with the enemy and their aggressions against
villages, citizens and the Lebanese Army.

As-Safir
Correspondent in washinton expressed, according to
responsible American resources, that Israel will terminate
its withdrawal from south of Lebanon and will spread its
troops along the International frontiers during a maximum
period of the first half of the coming month. These
resources continue to explain that the United Nations will
certify the Israeli withdrawal as full, even if farms
remained under the Israeli occupation, as Lebanon does not
own maps that prove the Lebanese ownership of such
territories.

President Rafic
Hariri, also, runs conversations with the Iranian
President, Mohammad Khatami, regarding the Israeli
withdrawal topic.

Amidst of all,
the UN Delegate, Terry Rod Larsen, expressed his fear of
the probability of some problems that may happen after the
Israeli withdrawal from South Lebanon, and considered that
establishing peace is the responsibility of the relative
parties.

Locally, the
teachers of the elementary and intermediary Public schools
effected today a two days strike as their demands are
still of no response. They minimized the period that was
decided as ten days, due to the current situation.

Future newspaper
indicated the fact that the Lebanese Economy is between
the negative effect of the Israeli Aggression and the
positive effect of the withdrawal. The newspaper continued
that: a billion dollars Arab investment is waiting for the
accomplishment of the withdrawal, and American companies
are prepared to compete with Europe in financing new
projects.

An-Nahar
newspaper, opened the file of Solidere that rests
suspended between the peace in the region and the monotone
of the Lebanese Administration, knowing that the result is
one despite of different explanations: Solidere is
workless till an unknown time.

Ad-Diyar wrote of
the electoral issue in the North, saying that the parties
that were united under one list in 1996 are separated in
this session. The newspaper mentioned that President
Karami's visit to the two Members of the Parliament, Nayla
Mouawad and Issam Fares explains the electoral separation
fact.
