  • South of Lebanon is the center of relevant movement in the United Nations. General Secretary, Kofi Anan, submits tomorrow his report of the 'Israeli withdrawal' to the Security Council. The latter holds a session on Thursday to discuss the details of such withdrawal, and the mechanism of spreading the Mandatory Troops (whether being beating according to the French request), in addition to the overlook on the Frontiers maps that do not include Shebaa Farms in this spreading.


  • Parallel to the above, Hizbollah ensured, through its General Secretary, Hassan Nasrallah, that it is going to continue its resistance to liberate Shebaa Farms.


  • The issue of the 'Arrested Lebanese in the Israeli jails' remains a basic subject in the Lebanese attitude, especially as the talks on Israeli withdrawal do not mention this issue at all. On the contrary, Israel includes it within that of the militias that deal with the Occupation Army, who seem to remain a human frontier barrier.


  • In support to this fact, the enemy Leaders decided to provide these militias with tanks and artilleries, after they maneuvered by declaring to disarm them.


  • Today, President Hoss meets the Great Countries' Ambassadors, in Beirut, to discuss the Israeli withdrawal issue. This subject was also the topic of the discussions that took place when both Saudi and Jordanian Kings, Fahed and Abdallah, received President Hariri, yesterday, in Jeddah.


  • Lebanon expressed, yesterday, farewell to Aamid Raymond Eddeh through a funeral that moved from Mar Gerges Church, in the middle of Beirut, to the Family cemeteries in Ras Nabeh, in the presence of official and popular assemblies. President Nabih Berri, in the name of the President of the Republic, hung the deceased Aamid a Cedar Medal of highest military rank.


  • Patriarch Sfeir headed the funeral, and expressed his Message by saying that the Aamid proved that Politics is not hypocrisy or manipulation, and did not express contrary to what he meant. Sfeir continued saying that 'If the Aamid had kept a slight pace with others he would have been in the presidency a long time ago'.


  • In the electoral topic, an information says that the Islamic Group resources agree that the alliance with President Omar Karami appears nearer than with President Hariri. The Group will fix their lists in Beirut, North and Saida.


  • In the South, candidates' movements were moving to book seats in the 'Agreement List' of President Berri and Hizbollah. Party resources had passed news mentioning a probable list formed of following:

  • President Berri and Yahia Ghaddar (Zahrani).

  • Ibrahim Mohammad Mehdi Chamseddine, Ali Fayad, Ali Khalil, and Abdul Majid Saleh (Tyre).

  • Mohammad Fneish, Ayoub Homayed, and Ahmad Amin Baydoun (Bint Jbeil).

  • Said Asaad and Ali Hasan Khalil (Marjeyoun).

  • Omar Zheiri or Mohammad Kaadan, Karam Karam, and Fayssal Kheireddine (Marjeyoun -Hasbaya).

  • Mohammad Raed, Yassine Jaber, Hani Kobeissi, and Khalil Hamdan or Ibrahim Awada (Nabatieh).
