  • The Security Council' Session is again postponed to next Tuesday; within this interval, the General Secretary, Kofi Anan, issues, on Sunday, his special report concerning the implementation of Decision 425.


  • Inaccurate news spoke of having Anan's trend to insert a statement concerning Shebaa Farms to keep them pending outside the implementation of the Decision till the Frontiers Drawing.


  • Israeli Prime Minister, Ihud Barak's visit to U.S.A. is also delayed because of the Israeli Governmental disputes and the turmoil in South Lebanon and the Palestinian Autonomic regions.


  • The South faced severe confrontations led to the injury of 6 Lebanese civilians and 3 Israeli militants. The Resistance was capable of breaking into the location of Al Bayyadah that was abandoned by Lahed Militia. A military Expert spoke to Haaretz newspaper saying that it seems too hard to estimate the ability of the Southern Army in staying steadfast confronting Hizbollah or any other force, after the Israeli withdrawal.


  • In another subject, Member Najah Wakim warned of the living crisis that would reach the limits of a catastrophe, stressing on the unemployment situation, and giving an example that shows the existence of 7000 unemployed engineers in 1999. This number was 3500 in 1998. Wakim also indicated to the emigration of one million Lebanese against Israel's reception of one million emigrants from Russia only!


  • The Executive Council of the General Labor Union emphasized on the necessity of improving the family living conditions and capacities by re-adjusting the salaries and by increasing the Governmental expenses instead of continuing the plan that serves the General Debt which consumes about 90% of the Country's incomes.


  • As the fuel prices were elevated, it was decided to increase the Social Security's educational aids, which become 90% of the students' fees instead of L.L. 500,000 for each student.


  • On the other hand, and in the electoral domain, both Members Ahmad Karami and Musbah Ahdab, and Chief Samir Jisr, announced their alliance creating a list that faces the agglomeration of the two Members Abdullatif Kabbara and Maurice El Fadel with Mohammad Safadi, and that of President Omar Karami with Hachem Minkara and Khaldoun El Charif.


  • According to Northern resources' opinion: Tripoli will have numerous separated lists that may be subjected for combination under the influence of the gravitation that exists between President Karami and Minister Suleiman Franjieh.


  • At the end of this week, the Decision List members of West Bekaa meet in Member Robert Ghanem's residence, to agree on naming a head for this list that might be either Member Sami Khatib or Member Abdul Rahim Mrad.


  • In Keserwan, preparations for a coalition list or for two competitive lists are made, at the time where the National Mass Party studies the probability of nominating Carlos Eddeh.
