The
UN General Secretary, Kofi Anan, described the
conversations made by his special Delegate, Terry Rod
Larsen, in Beirut, as perfect, and declared of the
Implementation of the Resolution 425 within days.
-
The
United Nations sources said that Anan will submit, during
the beginning of next week, to the Security Council, a
report based on Larsen's information that confirms the
Israeli withdrawal from the South proved by the UNIFIL's
Leadership, by air and land, in a step to increase this
Force and to make it spread on all the liberated
territories.
-
Larsen
stressed in his press conference held in Beirut, on
mentioning the reconciliation spirit that the Lebanese
have, and the Lebanese attitude regarding Shebaa Farms. He
considered the Government receiving Lahed Militia's arms
as a very important sign. He explained the International
attitude towards Shebaa Farms Issue saying that the latter
lies within the domain of UNDOP's operations, and that the
separation line of the UNIFIL does not include the Farms
since 1978, consequently, any Lebanese-Syrian Agreement
should be registered in the Security Council to re-draw
such line.
-
Parallel
to the aforesaid, the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs,
Farouk Sharaa, insisted on the Lebanese identity of Shebaa
Farms. His speech was during the works of the
Euro-Mediterranean Conference held in Lisbon. He announced
his full support to the UN role in the South of Lebanon,
and indicated to the Syrian opposition towards allowing
the International Armies to dismantle Hizbollah from its
arms, explaining that this party is not a militia, it is a
resisting movement, calling, at the same time, Israel to
draw its hand towards peace, and not to show up muscles.
-
The
President of the Republic, Emile Lahhoud, talked to C.N.N.
saying that the right is back to its owners, and that the
Resistance was very strong in the Lebanese History where
all the people unite with the Resistance and the Army. He
added, that the Liberation was achieved thanks to the
unity and consolidation of the supporters together with
the opposers, and nobody accepts the Israeli existence in
Lebanon, all agreed with each other, so Israel was
compelled to leave.
-
He
added: " All the Lebanese were feared of any security
problem after the withdrawal, but that did not happen,
because the people are united, and when this is the fact,
then no fear of any problems or revenge actions between
the Lebanese.
-
Hizbollah
General Secretary, Hasan Nasrallah, considered the Israeli
defeat as a victory to all Lebanon. He assured that the
Resistance does not aim to replace the State, but the
State is responsible for these territories that came back
to its sovereignty. He stressed on the continuation of the
Resistance as far as there remain Lebanese arrested in the
Israeli Prisons, and as Shebaa Farms are still occupied.
He called for initiating a biggest construction and
development workshop, not only in the South, but also, in
Baalbeck, Hermel and Bekaa.
-
The
Member Nassib Lahhoud saw, in a Radio conversation, that
all lived the jubilation of the liberation, and that the
Government has to prepare to spread the Army in that
region, because some of the jubilation images are harmful
to the International general View.
-
Apart
from this, and after his night return from Nakkoura,
Larsen was seen in a Cafeteria in Beirut Commercial
Center, where President Hariri joined him by haphazard,
then the Speaker of the House, President Nabih Berri and
his Vice President, Elie Firzli.
